Dr. Raghunath Puttaiah, a graduate in Dental Surgery from India, completed an MPH and Residency at University of Alabama at Birmingham, and was the first recipient of the Johnson & Johnson Medical Inc. Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Infectious Disease Control in Dentistry Award at UTHSC-SA Dental School. Currently, he is a tenured Associate Professor in Diagnostic Science at Baylor College of Dentistry, Texas A&M University System Health Science Center in Dallas, Texas, USA. Dr. Puttaiah crafted the Dental Safety Standards for India through the Dental Council of India, which was released by the Prime Minister of India Hon. Dr. Manmohan Singh in 2007.
He has helped the Russian Federation plan Dental Safety Standards and conducted numerous research projects through industry and NIH/NIDCR SBIR Grants. He has presented over 100 original research abstracts, published multiple book chapters, research papers, reviewed papers; and has authored multiple newsletters, articles and columns in magazines and journals. He is an ad hoc reviewer for Journal of Dental Education, Journal of the American Dental Association, BioMed Central, International Dental Journal, and Quintessence International.
A consultant for over 25 dental industries and grants reviewer for Department of Health & Human Services, HRSA he has served on national committees and the ISO Committee on Dental Units. He has been a member of the Organization for Safety and Asepsis
